An exceptionalArt Deco era engagement ring, modeled in platinum, whose primary gem is a 1.21 carat old mine cushion cut diamond (I/J, SI1). This lively, hand-cut diamond is held in four, tab-style prongs. It is flanked by two pairs of french cut, blue sapphires that grace the ring's elaborate shoulders, reading like dashes astrideits large, central gem. This ring is replete withbeautifully-balanced, elegantdetails—its sculpted head is engraved (onthe north and south lobes) with fine, fanning, plume-like details that are repeatin itsshoulder decor. Two pairs of paisley-shaped seats are positioned alongside the ring's aforementioned sapphire "dashes", and each of these paisleys is set with a small, old mine cut diamond. These plume and paisley elements come together around the paired sapphires tosuggest the graceful form of a butterfly, or moth. The ring's slender, half-round shank tapers toward the base.
